What does healthy LOOK like to you?

This is a question I always ask my clients.

The common answers usually include, skinny, attractive, a certain weight…

Throughout history, and across different cultures, body shape has always been a determiner of attractiveness and desirability – desirable attributes according to media and society. More often than not, the perceived ‘ideal’ is unrealistic and unattainable for the majority of us – leaving us dissatisfied and more importantly, mislead.

So what does HEALTHY really look like?

How good you FEEL

Your ENERGY levels

Balanced MOODS

Quality SLEEP

Reduced STRESS

Healthy RELATIONSHIPS with food, your body and yourself

Life BALANCE

HAPPINESS

What about a HEALTHY DIET ?

It’s often associated with restriction, rules, deprivation, boring, bland…

Eating can become an autopilot behaviour – void of enjoyment and intention.

Here are 5 DO’s to get you started on your Health journey:

  1. Avoid influences which continuously push the ‘ideal’ and encourage you to compare yourself e.g. social media…
  2. Break up with your scale
  3. Wear clothes you look good in – store or throw away anything that doesn’t fit
  4. Embrace all the non-scale victories that make us healthy
  5. Eat for joy and pleasure – not autopilot/mindlessly

“Being a healthy woman isn’t about getting on a scale or measuring your waistline. We need to start focusing on what matters – how we feel and how we feel about ourselves” – Michelle Obama
